Announcing our new recycling program! 🌱

If you’re already using The Botanist products (first of all THANK YOU), you’re already making amazing steps to leading a more sustainable life – from what’s inside our bottles to the glass packaging to the refill options, collectively we are reducing thousands of plastic bottles from going to landfill and minimizing the impact on the environment with our plant-based and biodegradable ingredients.

But together, we can do even more, and that’s why we’re delighted to announce our new recycling and reuse program!

What it means, in a nutshell:

• When you place your next order through our website, we will collect your empty The Botanist bottles or refill packaging when we deliver your new products. All you need to do is put them back in the box they came in and make sure they’re washed!
• We will again wash and then re-use the bottles, or where that’s not possible, recycle them through our recycling partner Yes Full Circle (more on this below).

Why are we doing it?

As an eco-first business, we want to do as much as we can to be as low-waste as possible and make it easier for our customers to do the same.  

Having lived in the UAE for over a decade, we are aware that the recycling rates in the UAE are lower than that in other countries, and it’s also not quite as easy as other parts of the world! Although rubbish is collected daily from your door or apartment building by the Municipality, only a few Dubai communities offer the same service for recycling.

An alternative is to find a nearby recycling station, of which there are 13 around Dubai (although admittedly time-consuming, it’s important that we all play our part and make the effort).

All of this makes recycling a bit more challenging, and we know that despite best intentions, it can sometimes mean that otherwise recyclable material ends up as waste in landfills around UAE which ultimately creates pollution, wastes resources and harms the environment.

With the correct recycling practices, we can collectively reduce environmental waste and creep up those recycling rates!

How does it work? 

Whenever you place a new order through our website, you can request collection of your existing The Botanist packaging.

From these, we’ll either wash and reuse the packaging, or where that’s not possible, arrange for it to be taken to a recycling facility through our waste management provider Yes Full Circle.

YES Full Circle Solutions (YFC)  is a Dubai Municipality and Trakhees approved recycler. YFC is certified with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 10002. They collect the items from our location in DIP and take them back to their warehouse, where the materials are weighed and segregated. They are then treated to be turned back into raw material, while residual materials are sent to approved downstream vendors for further processing, or to manufacturers to create new items. A recycling certificate is issued after the processing that mentions all the data of the received material processed.  

How to request collection:

During the checkout for your next order, add a comment on your cart page, the  the red arrows below show you where to find them. That's it! Our delivery partner will swoop in and collect them as they drop off your order.

If you’re not home on the day of delivery, just leave your items at the front door on the day your new order is due to arrive - our driver will know to collect it.
